Green audit helps the librarian to get an idea about the energy consumption in the library. Green audit is connected to sustainable development process. It is an effective way to solve the environmental problems.
Green Audit
Green Audit is the process of assessing the environmental impact of an organization, process, project, product, etc. Green means eco-friendly environment. GREEN can be described as ‘Global Readiness in Ensuring Ecological Neutrality’. The green audit includes renewable energy usage.

The green audit is a requirement mentioned in the accreditation criteria of NAAC. NAAC has specified the eligibility criteria of an inspection company to conduct ‘green audits’. According to the NAAC advisory (F.No.14-29/2022, dated 26th May 2022) the competence criteria of an inspection body to conduct a ‘Green Audit’ is as follows:
“In case any institution goes for one-time green audit, it should ensure that the agency is accredited as per ISO 17020 for a recognized standard/criteria for green audits by NABCB or any member of ILAC and the report/certificate carries logo of the AB”
